Other than the farming expertise that KFTF(kok fah technology farm) possess, their staff are also equipped with the skills and knowledge of constructing greenhouses. Over the years of building greenhouses, their expertise has experimented different types and materials and thus acquired the best specifications and materials needed for the construction of greenhouses.
Besides building greenhouses for our own usage, KFTF has in recent years, began to provide greenhouse construction services. Due to the direct liasing and ordering of raw materials in bulk, KFTF is able to provide high quality greenhouse at reasonable prices. They have since constructed greenhouses for different organisations, community centres and even for schools. Some of them are Green Haven, Choa Chu Kang Community Centre and many others.
Residual soils are weathering products of rocks that are commonly found under unsaturated conditions. The properties of residual soils are a function of the degree of weathering. A series of index properties, engineering properties, mercury porosimetry tests and scanning electron microscope (SEM) examinations were performed on residual soils from two major geological formations in Singapore. The results indicate that the variation in the index and engineering properties as well as microstructural characteristics of the residual soils with depth can be related to the degree of weathering. An increase in the degree of weathering results in an increase in pore volume and produces a larger range of pore-size distribution. The variation in the pore volume and the pore-size distribution through a profile of weathered rock can be used as an indicative measure of the variation in the degree of weathering with depth.

Singapore have a tropical climate. In Singapore, it will rain and also shine anytime. When it rain, the rainwater can help to water the vegetables and when it shine, it can help it to grow up, but when it's too hot the plants will die if we don't water them. Those vegetables are suitable to grow in singapore's farms as the weather in singapore is not too hot or too cold to grow crops.
Singapore has a tropical rainforest climate with no distinctive seasons, uniform temperature and pressure, high humidity, and abundant rainfall. Temperatures usually range from 23 to 32 °C (73 to 90 °F). Relative humidity averages around 79% in the morning and 73% in the afternoon.April and May are the hottest months, with the wetter monsoon season from November to January From July to October, there is often haze caused by bush fires in neighbouring Indonesia. Although Singapore does not observe daylight saving time, it follows time zone GMT+8, one hour ahead of its geographical location.

Land characteristics

The topography of the nation comprises of hills, valleys, sandy and flat land. Bukit Timah is considered to be the highest point of Singapore and is built up of igneous and granite rocks. The northwestern part of the region is dominated by the hills and valleys made up of sedimentary rocks, while the eastern region features sandy and flat land. No traces of natural lakes and rivers can be found in Singapore. Some artificial reservoirs and water catchment areas are constructed to meet the demands of local fresh water supply Location for farming There are not many farms left in Singapore and the few remaining are mostly located in the Kranji area. The good thing about this farm is that it is big. We saw lots of cars parked along both sides of the road, which made us really curious about the sudden increase in human traffic at such a secluded area, where we usually drove for quite a while with little human activity. In farm, vegetables are water by putting pipes at the side. By putting it at the side, the water can just flow out from the pipe down to the soil. When vegetables are ready to be sold out,the farmers will pluck it out from the soil, pack and send it to various supermarket and wet market.Vegetables are sold out freshly at a cheap price. |
